Ireland U21 international 'Baby Bale' leaves Spurs on loan deal

19-year-old Waterford man Kenny McEvoy has joined Peterborough in League One.

IRISH U21 INTERNATIONAL Kenny McEvoy has joined Peterborough United on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the forthcoming season.

The highly-rated winger has been dubbed ‘Baby Bale’ due to his uncanny resemblance to former Spurs star Gareth Bale. Waterford native McEvoy’s strong form for Tottenham’s Academy and U21 sides in recent seasons have only seen the comparisons become more frequent.

The Irishman will now hope to feature prominently for League One side Peterborough as he looks to continue his progress. McEvoy joined Spurs in 2011, having originally started playing football for local Waterford club Villa FC.

19-year-old McEvoy can play on the right or left wing and is renowned for his searing pace and ever-improving dribbling. He was a frequent goalscorer for Spurs’ U21 side and will look to continue that form with Peterborough.

“This is an opportunity for me to come and try and break into the first team and get some experience under my belt,” McEvoy told the club’s official website. “It is my first loan spell so I just have to try and impress in training.”
