KATIE TAYLOR WAS utterly dominant in securing her fourth successive European Union title this afternoon, comprehensively outboxing Karolina Graczyk of Poland to secure a 25-9 victory in front of a disappointed home crowd in Katowice.
The Bray fighter dominated from start to finish in the Women’s 60kg final, capping an impressive week which will further reinforce her credentials ahead of next year’s Olympics in London.
“Katie boxed out of her skin,” said Irish team manager Majella Loftus following Taylor’s assured display, SportsNewsIreland reports.
She was 5-1 ahead after the first round and she just kept getting stronger and stronger after that. It was a fantastic all round performance.
Taylor’s medal is only one of three which will be brought home from southern Poland by Team Ireland with light-heavyweight Lauragh O’Neill and welterweight Laoise Traynor both claiming bronze following their respective semi-final defeats yesterday.
