Aussie star blames Coppers for dismal International Rules showing

How many times can one nightclub make the sports headlines in a year?

AFL STAR JAMES KELLY has found a novel excuse for Australia’s recent International Rules tonking by Ireland.

He’s blaming Copper Face Jacks.

For reasons unknown, the touring Aussie footballers took a shine to the notorious Harcourt Street nightclub during last year’s series in Ireland.

And now, according to Kelly, some of his team-mates are so bewitched by its charms that they’re only interested in representing their country if it involves a chance to get their boogie on in the Dublin hotspot.

Speaking to the Geelong Advertiser, Kelly admitted that the AFL’s best stars, many of whom didn’t feature in this year’s tests, were more likely to make themselves available for the series in 2013.

It would probably make it a bit easier if it’s in Ireland. The boys get a bit of a trip over there and get to go to Copper Face Jacks.

But hopefully some of the guys see that we didn’t perform that well [this year] and want to put their hand up in a couple of years’ time.

Wow.
