Aussie star blames Coppers for dismal International Rules showing

How many times can one nightclub make the sports headlines in a year?

AFL STAR JAMES KELLY has found a novel excuse for Australiaโ€™s recent International Rules tonking by Ireland.

Heโ€™s blaming Copper Face Jacks.

For reasons unknown, the touring Aussie footballers took a shine to the notorious Harcourt Street nightclub during last yearโ€™s series in Ireland.

And now, according to Kelly, some of his team-mates are so bewitched by its charms that theyโ€™re only interested in representing their country if it involves a chance to get their boogie on in the Dublin hotspot.

Speaking to the Geelong Advertiser, Kelly admitted that the AFLโ€™s best stars, many of whom didnโ€™t feature in this yearโ€™s tests, were more likely to make themselves available for the series in 2013.

It would probably make it a bit easier if itโ€™s in Ireland. The boys get a bit of a trip over there and get to go to Copper Face Jacks.

But hopefully some of the guys see that we didnโ€™t perform that well [this year] and want to put their hand up in a couple of yearsโ€™ time.

Wow.
