Wojciech Szczesny: Looked uncertain at times on corners and could have done better for the second Bayern goal too. 5
Bacary Sagna: Was booked for a silly challenge, but was one of the few Arsenal players to at least show a bit of passion on the night and demonstrated an attacking threat at times also. 6
Per Mertesacker: Partially at fault for the first two Arsenal goals and marshalled a defence that was consistently disorganised. 3
Laurent Koscielny: Not as conspicuously bad as Arsenal’s other defenders, and kept the score down with an important interception towards the end, but must take his share of the blame for the apparent lack of communication at the back. 6
Thomas Vermaelen: Was playing in an unfamiliar position, but that was no excuse for the extremely shaky performance he delivered. 4
Mikel Arteta: Supposedly in the team to offer creativity, but he was fairly anonymous for the most part tonight. 5
Jack Wilshere: There were instances where he demonstrated his customary driving runs and passion, but even his influence could not prevent Arsenal from delivering a limp performance. 6
Aaron Ramsey: His weak tackle in the lead up to the first goal was a bad way to start the game and his performance remained error-ridden thereafter. 4
Santi Cazorla: Improved when given a more central position after being wasted out wide in the first period. However, he failed to track Lahm’s run for Bayern’s third goal. 5
Lukas Podolski: Took his goal well at least, and looked lively at times. Therefore, it was somewhat of a surprise when Wenger elected to sub him prematurely. 6
Theo Walcott: Conceded possession cheaply on a regular basis and did little to change the lingering suspicion that he’s ultimately not good enough to play in the central striker role at the highest level. 4
Substitutes: Giroud had a decent chance to score after coming on, but himself and Rosicky rarely had the chance to stamp their influence on the game. 5
Arsene Wenger: Got the big decisions wrong. Playing Cazorla out wide, Vermaelen at left-back and Walcott up front all served to exacerbate Arsenal’s problems. 4
