Armagh stun Tyrone to dump Mickey Harte's side out of the championship

Tyrone finished the game with 14 men after Mattie Donnelly saw the line.

ARMAGH DUMPED ULSTER rivals Tyrone out of the All-Ireland senior football championship with a round 2 qualifier victory this afternoon in Healy Park.

It was a famous win for Armagh in Omagh as they bounced back in style from their Ulster semi-final replay loss to Monaghan.

It marks the first time that Tyrone have exited the championship at such an early juncture under Mickey Harte’s guidance since 2006.

Before the game even started, Armagh’s Aiden Forker and Mattie Donnelly of Tyrone picked up yellow cards for their part in a melee involving several players.

Once the action got under way, it was Armagh who dominated, Tony Kernan (4), Jamie Clarke (2) and Stephen Harold helping them into a 0-7 to 0-3 lead before two Sean Cavanagh frees reduced the gap to two points at half-time.

Having lost Donnelly to a second yellow just before the break, Tyrone rallied in the second half scoring the first three points to take the lead.

However, Armagh sprung into life and scored three unanswered points of their own to retake the lead before two Darren McCurry frees levelled things up on 50 minutes.

That proved to be the last time Tyrone troubled the umpires and points from Clarke, Mark Shields and Rory Grugan helped Armagh to a famous win and dumped Mickey Harte’s men out of the championship.
