Armagh 8-13
Leitrim 0-10

ARMAGH RAN RIOT in their All-Ireland SFC second round qualifier in Carrick-on-Shannon.

The Orchard County, who started with the same team which disposed of Wicklow, began strongly in front of 4,371 at Sean McDermott Park and scored 1-2 before Leitrim got their first point of the day.

Armagh’s class in attack shone through early on and a second goal from Eugene McVerry plus one each from Kevin Dyas and Tony Kernan meant they held a 16-point advantage at the interval.

McVerry bagged his hat-trick soon after the restart while Jamie Clarke, who was superb throughout, found the back of the net twice as Paul Grimley’s men eased to victory.

They will discover who their opponents will be in the next round in Monday’s draw.

LEITRIM: C McCrann, F McMorrow, C Egan, S McWeeney, D Beck, G Reynolds, B Prior, D Sweeney, B Brennnan, P McGowan, J Glancy, P Brennan, A Croal, R Lowe, K Conlon.

ARMAGH: P McEvoy, P McKeown, B Donaghy, Js Morgan, A Kernan, C McKeever, M Shields, J Lavery, S Harold, C Rafferty, K Dyas, E Rafferty, J Clarke, T Kernan, E McVerry.

I would love Armagh to get Derry in the next round (I know it can’t happen) and make Brolly eat his words about Grimley from two months ago. They haven’t faced much but you can only beat whats in front of you and you have to hand out to Armagh they are doing it in style.

It can happen, the 8 winners play each other, then the 4 winners play the 4 provincial losers.

Grimleys Armagh are breath of fresh air to Ulster football, hope they go on to win the all Ireland as Galway haven’t a snow balls hope in hell, Galway try to play football the right way as well but are not good enough. As for Brolly he is not a fan of a good brand of football, so be it!

The strength and depth in ulster football ??? Would you cop on they beat Leitrim , Kerry, Dublin and possibly mayo would have put 15 goals past them! Donegal are the only ones making noise in ulster and they will struggle to reach the final this year . Dublin for Sam (and maybe Liam)

    Hi Pat :)

Would Kerry come out of Ulster like they breeze through Munster most years?! I sincerely doubt it.

In a Munster man, but fact is that 8 of the 9 sides in Ulster are highly competitive. Donegal are a little bit ahead of the rest, but of the remaining seven, anybody could beat anybody.
