Ardscoil Rís (Limerick) 2-19
Our Lady’s Templemore (Tipperary) 1-8
MUNSTER GAA’s 2013 young hurler of the year Ronan Lynch led the rout as Ardscoil Rís hammered Our Lady’s, Templemore, in this afternoon’s Harty Cup quarter-final at MacDonagh Park, Nenagh.
Lynch, a member of the Limerick team that won last year’s provincial minor crown, scored 0-12 as Ardscoil advanced to a last four showdown with Dungarvan CBS or Hamilton High School, Bandon.
Na Piarsaigh star Lynch displayed his full range of skills as he landed eight points from frees, three from play and a superb sideline cut in the second half to crown his display.
Micheal O’Loughlin was another to impress at corner forward as he landed 1-3 from play and Lynch’s namesake Cian (no relation), a fellow member of last year’s Limerick minor team, raised three white flags with points from play.
Templemore, who last year’s semi-final replay between the sides, had no answers as Ardscoil ran out winners by 14 points.
At half-time, breeze-assisted Ardscoil led by 2-11 to 1-4, with Colin Crehan and O’Loughlin striking for goals within three minutes of each other.
Templemore’s leading scorer Tommy Nolan netted before half-time but the 1978 competition winners played second fiddle throughout against Ardscoil, who claimed back to back titles in 2010 and 2011.
