FA charge Anelka over 'quenelle' salute

West Brom’s French striker made the gesture during a Premier League game against West Ham over Christmas.

WEST BROMWICH ALBION striker Nicolas Anelka has been charged after making an allegedly anti-Semitic salute during a recent match, the Football Association announced this morning.

The 34-year-old French striker performed the ‘quenelle’ salute, putting one arm across his chest and straightening the other, during West Brom’s 3-3 draw at West Ham United in the Premier League last month.

“The FA has charged the West Bromwich Albion player Nicolas Anelka following an incident that occurred during the West Ham United versus West Bromwich Albion fixture at the Boleyn Ground on 28 December 2013,” read a statement published on the FA website.

“It is alleged that, in the 40th minute of the fixture, Anelka made a gesture which was abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting and/or improper, contrary to FA Rule E3[1].

“It is further alleged that this is an aggravated breach, as defined in FA Rule E3[2], in that it included a reference to ethnic origin and/or race and/or religion or belief.”

He has until 23 January to respond to the charge.

Maybe he shouldn’t have done it but being honest I wouldn’t have had a clue what it means if the media hadn’t created shi+ storm around it..

I’m glad he did do it, as now we get a glimpse just how powerful the jewish / zionist mafia is.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. I lived in France for four years. The Vichy culpability for Jewish deaths from cities like Lyon has never been properly accepted in France. People with questionable backgrounds ended up running for President at various stages (unsuccessfully).

The grill on the wall of the peace garden where the willow lies on ile de la cité by Notre Dame is one of the places Jews were driven onto barges before being “processed” for onward forwarding to Germany / Poland.

Anelka is from a poor suburb in Paris but Paris has a jewish quarter and jewish heritage. It is incomprehensible that he would not have known what he was doing. That a wealthy Frenchman of african origin is actively targeting another community with hate related gestures is beyond contempt.

We Irish should not be ones to cast stones. Our attitudes to other countries including our nearest neighbour have often been beacons of intolerance.
