Andy Reid: made his international return, without the guitar, against Kazakhstan last month. INPHO/Donall Farmer
Sing-Song

Martin O'Neill has some good news for Andy Reid and his guitar

It seems Marty enjoys a bit of a sing-song as much as the next man.

ANDY REID’S GUITAR could be set for a return to the Irish squad.

Reid made his international comeback against Kazakhstan last month, more than four years on from the late night sing-song which saw him infamously axed by Giovanni Trapattoni.

But new manager Martin O’Neill doesn’t have a problem with the Nottingham Forest midfielder showcasing his musical talent — within reason.

“If he plays it well, yeah, I haven’t a problem with it,” O’Neill joked during his media briefing this afternoon.

I think at some stage or another Andy will have to go to bed, won’t he?

If he’s still continuing to play at 5.30, even if we won, even I might get fed up of that.

Presumably Roy will be okay with it too, provided they’re not playing the Fields of Athenry…
