Andy Carroll was off on holidays before Roy Hodgson could put him on standby for Brazil

THERE WAS NO room for Big Andy Carroll when Roy Hodgson named his 23-man squad for next monthโ€™s World Cup in Brazil.

However, unlike the likes of Ashley Cole, the West Ham striker did not receive a gentle arm-round-the-shoulder chat by telephone last nightโ€ฆ because he was already off on his hollibobs.

While Hodgson was calling out the names in a Vauxhall garage in Luton, Carrollโ€™s girlfriend Billi Muckow was posting these pictures from Dubai on Instagram.

Mucklow captioned the picture of herself and Caroll with โ€˜Nowhere Iโ€™d rather beโ€ the Geordie strike replied via his own Instagram, though:

Carrollโ€™s dream is not over yet, of course. He is among seven names on Hodgsonโ€™s standby list. So if anything unfortunate should happen Rickie Lambert in the next few weeks Carroll will have a decent base tan to help him survive in South America.
