Reports - Wexford senior hurler set to be hit with 48-week ban from GAA

Andrew Shore is facing a proposed suspension by the Warwickshire county board.

WEXFORD’S ANDREW SHORE could be hit with a proposed 48-week ban as a result of allegedly playing a game in Britain without being properly registered.

Reports this morning reveal that Shore received the suspension for playing in an 11-a-side game run by the GAA in Britain and is now facing the potential ban from the Warwickshire county board.

Shore is understood to have believed that his transfer papers were in order but Warwickshire GAA chiefs disagreed at a meeting last weekend.

The Wexford player is still awaiting official notice of his ban and does have the option to appeal to the GAA’s Central Appeals Committee.

Shore, who lives in Dublin and plays his club GAA with Parnells, was a key member of the Wexford hurling side that reached this year’s All-Ireland quarter-finals where they lost to Limerick. Shore lined out in the half-back line during the summer for Liam Dunne’s side.

He is the second GAA player to be hit with a lengthy ban over the last week for playing a match in Britain. A Kerry junior club footballer from the Glenbeigh-Glencar club, who lives in the UK but still plays for his home club, was banned for 48 weeks after playing for an Leicester-based outfit in the St Judes Sevens tournament in September.
