Hip-hop, trad and disco. Was it for this, Michael Cusack?

5. Here’s To Davy

By: Buddy Early and the Banner Bangers

Stand-out lyric: “Here’s to Davy, he’s got the master plan, Here’s to Davy, come on all you banner fans.”

Typical YouTube comment: “BRILLIANT:) This has made my day guys… witty & funny with a touch of satire! I hope to GOD Davy see’s this cos id say he’ll love it:) UP FOR THE MATCH is on the cards lads!!!! p.s I love Sharknado”

Verdict: This is one for Flannery’s at around 8.30 on Sunday night. If Clare win.

The idiosyncratic delivery, the unique production values, Karaoke-style backing-track and memorable lyrics make this a winner. Those lads in One Direction would want to watch out. Magic.

4. The Bold JBM

By: Roy Buckley featuring Dave Donnelly and The Black Donnellys

Stand-out lyric: “The boys of Glen Rovers, Kanturk and Na Piarsiagh, Midleton, Sarsfields, St Finbarr’s as well. With great pride and passion they fight for their county and Cork’s greatest sports man, the bold JBM.”

Typical YouTube comment: Nice one mr. Buckley!!!

Verdict: Lovely hurling. A come-all-ye plea for Rebels from a singer, Roy Buckley, who sounds a short puck out shy of Tom Waits.

3. Do The Jimmy Barry Murphy

By: GMC (as Davey Sullz)

Stand-out lyric: “The Rebels are back under Jimmy Barry-Murphy, up to Croke Park, to take no mercy. Bate the Cats, that’s the truth, call the ISPCA, animal abuse”.

Verdict: Nothing says the hurling final more than a hip-hop. The second entry from the Rebel County but the only one spit out by bone fide rapper. Tough one for the terraces to sing and may set off several pacemakers if performed on up For The Match on Saturday night admittedly.

Typical YouTube comment: “Cant decide if its better or worse without the video”

2. Whipping Boys No More

By: Declan Clancy and Ruairí Henchy

Stand-out lyric: “I remember as a young boy, up in the Hogan Stand. Dalo searched for a missing person, we all searched throughout the land. We found him there in HQ, draped in saffron and in blue,”

Verdict: Various commenters this week agreed, this one has them ready to run through a wall in Croke Park. Filmed — on location, we’re told — in Norrie Henchy’s bar in Clooney this duo produce a rallying call for the Banner featuring Fr Ted references, the Davy Fitz death-stare and fierce pulling and dragging altogether. Top work.

Typical YouTube comment: “Great stuff lads… ye earned that sup of stout..”

1. Banner bound

By: The Symbollix

Stand-out lyric: “So gather round, let’s hear you roar, the Liam MacCarthy’s Banner-bound once more.”

Verdict: If Fleet Foxes grew up watching Dalo, Jamesie and the Sparrow they might have produced something like this. Éanna Mulvihill and Oisín Hickey offer up the most downbeat of those in our hit parade. You could see it overplaying a montage at the end of an episode of the OC. If Seth senior played for Cratloe. It’s actually good.

Typical YouTube comment: “Class bit of song-writing. Arguably too good for ‘an all-ireland’ song. Fair play. Up the Banner.”
