All Blacks celebrate Irish win with rousing rendition of 'Red Red Wine'

Alcoholic beverages and Irish rugby misery has been strongly linked in the past two weeks.

WHAT BETTER WAY to celebrate an unbeaten rugby season that to huddle up with your teammates and belt out a bit of *UB40?

That is exactly what Richie McCaw and his teammates did after New Zealand defeated Ireland 24-22 to finish 2013 with 14 wins from 14 matches.

The All Blacks official website recorded victorious scenes in the post-match dressing room at Lansdowne Road on Sunday. The video starts with interviews from a relieved McCaw, Aaron Smith and Ben Smith but the ‘Red Red Wine’ rendition bizarrely kicks in at around 4:25.

Following the midweek boozing antics of the Australian rugby team, the week before, the song was somewhat fitting.

Fair play to them.

*Red Red Wine was originally recorded by Neil Diamond and was covered by Bob Marley and achieved chart success with UB40 in 1983.
