CHILEAN ATTACKER ALEXIS SANCHEZ has signed a long-term deal with Arsenal.

The club hasn’t revealed the length of the contract or the transfer fee involved though it’s believed to be for four years and worth somewhere between £30-35m.

Confirmation came via the North London club’s official Twitter account this evening.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is understandably thrilled with his latest addition and said:

Alexis will add power, creativity and much quality to our squad and we are all looking forward to him joining up with us in a few weeks. He has consistently produced top-quality performances at the highest level for a number of seasons now and we are all excited to see him integrate into the Arsenal squad.”

Sanchez was in-demand with Juventus also monitoring his situation but it’s believed he preferred a move to the Premier League having already spent three years in Serie A with Udinese.

He underwent a medical at London Colney earlier today but will now head on a short holiday. It’s expected that he will make his debut for the club at the Emirates Cup which takes place in London on 2nd August.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, he said:

“I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal, a club which has a great manager, a fantastic squad of players, huge support around the world and a great stadium in London. I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to be playing for Arsenal in the Premier League and Champions League. I will give my best to Arsenal and want to make all the supporters happy.”

With the news confirmed late on Thursday, it’s now expected that Luis Suarez will complete his expected move to Barcelona from Liverpool before the weekend.

The Merseyside outfit were keen on Sanchez being included as part of the Suarez deal but it’s thought that will now be a cash-only arrangement.

Sanchez, who scored twice in four World Cup games as his country made it to the knock-out round, had been at the Nou Camp for three seasons and won a single La Liga title, a Copa del Rey, two Spanish Super Cups, one UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup in that time.
