Jose Aldo on Conor McGregor: I don't see anything that stands out

The featherweight champ faces Mendes in Brazil this weekend. And McGregor will be cage-side.

JOSE ALDO WILL be completely focused on his opponent Chad Mendes in Rio this weekend — despite the flamboyantly-dressed distraction sitting cageside.

Conor McGregor will be at UFC 179 on Saturday night as the featherweight champion takes on the No 2 ranked fighter in the division.

There’s been massive hype around the Dubliner, particularly since his debut Las Vegas win last month, but Aldo seems unimpressed.

“I’m not looking at anyone else at the moment,” he told MMAjunkie. “I’m focused on my next fight, which is against Chad Mendes. If people are hyping Conor, I haven’t read about it.

“After my fight, I’ll have time to see what the hype’s all about.

“I make it a point to observe all fighters in the featherweight category,” he continued. “I’m the champion, and I plan to remain the champion. I do pay attention to any featherweight fight where someone is ranked in the UFC, since that could potentially be my next adversary. Conor is no different than any other fighter. I don’t see anything that stands out.”
