Newcastle manager Pardew gets seven-game ban for headbutt

The 52-year-old won’t be able to attend the stadium for the first three matches in question.

NEWCASTLE UNITED MANAGER Alan Pardew has been given a seven-match suspension and a £60,000 ($100,000, 72,000 euros) fine for headbutting Hull City midfielder David Meyler, the Football Association announced on Tuesday.

“Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew will serve a seven-match suspension with immediate effect, subject to any appeal, after he admitted an FA misconduct charge,” read a statement on the FA website.

“An Independent Regulatory Commission today (Tuesday 11 March 2014) ruled the first three matches imposed are a stadium ban with the remaining four a touchline ban.

“Pardew was also fined £60,000 and warned as to his future conduct.”

The incident occurred during Newcastle’s 4-1 victory at Hull in the Premier League on March 1, with Pardew sent to the stands after moving his head towards Meyler during a touchline confrontation in the second half.

Pardew is not a nice character. I thought he’d get more as he has previous.

Fact of the matter is if the manager did that of a higher profile club like arsenal or Chelsea,it would be 10/15 games

It’s because he’s English, if he was foreign they’d have thrown the book at him.

Far too light, should have been banned for the rest of the season. Thuggish behaviour bringing the game into disrepute, giving the game, club and EPL and bad image across the world. (From a Newcastle fan)

Rest of the season would have only been another 3 games but I think seeing as they were banning him for 7 already they could have easily added on another 3 and rounded off the season. I wonder were they keen to impress that this was less serious than Suarez’s bite on Ivanavic having already banned him for the Evra situation.

Far too light. Won’t make much difference, for the touch line ban games anyway. He’s still picking the team and giving orders etc just through a third party via telephone

Pardew is an out and out thug. We’ve seen it before from him and will again
