DROGHEDA UNITED MOVED up to third in the Airtricity League following a 3-1 win against Bray Wanderers this evening at Hunky Dorys Park.
Declan O’Brien gave the hosts a lead with a header from a Ryan Brennan cross, before Sean Houston hit back for Bray with a header of his own.
Paul Crowley restored his side’s advantage in the 64th minute, before Peter Hynes sealed Drogheda’s victory with another header from a corner.
Elsewhere, two late Christy Fagan goals help St Patrick’s Athletic move up to second in the table, following 2-1 win over Bohemians at Richmond Park.
A Daniel Joyce goal in the 10th minute ensured Bohs led for most of the game, before the hosts’ late show overturned the deficit. The visitors’ woe was compounded as David Scully was sent off in the dying seconds.
In addition, Cork City and Derry City played out a 2-2 draw at Turners Cross.
A brace from Rory Patterson gave Derry a two-goal advantage after only 22 minutes, before two goals in the last ten minutes from Vinny Sullivan and Shane Duggan sent the crowd home happy.
Finally, UCD drew 1-1 with Dundalk at the Belfield Bowl.
Nathan Murphy gave the visitors the lead ten minutes before half-time, but Robbie Benson equalised early in the second half to ensure the league’s lowest-placed team secured a welcome point.
