ALBERT PUJOLS CAN breathe a sigh of relief today after hitting his first home run of the 2012 Major League Baseball season.

Pujols, regarded by many as one of the greatest players in the game, had played 29 times this year – stepping up to the plate 110 times without success – before connecting off a Drew Hutchinson pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning.

It was Pujols’ first home run since signing a $240 million dollar contract with the LA Angels in the off-season.

It helped the home team to a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays but leaves the first baseman 444 home runs short of his total with the St. Louis Cardinals.
