6 things the FAI will spend their €1.2million funding on

The association will spread this money across six projects in areas including Mayfield and Westport

IT WAS ANNOUNCED today that Irish football will receive a €1.2million boost in funding.

The FAI will spread this money across six projects in areas including Mayfield and Westport, with each project in question receiving €200,000.

With this in mind, here is a breakdown of six things the money will go towards:

  • Renovating the pitch, clubhouse and changing rooms at Mayfield Football Club, which is a designated FAI regional centre for Emerging Talent.
  • Work on Galway’s stadium to enable the club to host international matches up to Women’s Senior level, enhancing facilities for supporters, players and match officials in the process.
  • The Munster Football Association will have access ramps, stairs and toilets constructed, which will improve the sporting experience for all in Mounthawk Park, Tralee.
  • Kerry District League will install a full-sized all-weather pitch that will provide adequate training facilities for the 94 teams in the league. The ground is a designated FAI Regional Centre that plays host to 23 teams and is used for FAI Emerging Talent Programmes, Coach Education and Referee Education courses.
  • Westport United FC will be facilitated in the development of Phase 2 of their recently purchased grounds, with new playing and club house facilities being provided to support Mayo football.
  • Clones Town FC will be provided with basic changing room facilities at its home ground in Carn.
