Mayweather, Ronaldo and Messi top 25 highest-paid athletes in the world list

ESPN’s ‘The Magazine’ has released the latest figures which reveal the wealthiest sportspeople.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR made at least $73.5 million in 2013 for his two  boxing matches making him the highest-paid athlete in the world according to ESPN the Magazine.

This list differs than the list put out each year by Forbes.com, which includes both salaries and endorsements.

Aaron Rodgers is the highest-paid among the ‘Big 4′ American sports leagues, taking home $40 million (€28.9m) in 2013, while the world’s two best footballers — Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi — are the biggest earners in football.

Here are the 25 highest-paid from 2013:

    Surprised Vettel isn’t on this I thought he was one of the highest paid sports stars. Also I thought their would by a NASCAR driver up there somewhere

    Wouldn’t know my basketball that well but LeBron James has one many MVPs. Would have thought that would mean he is earning top $. Same with no golfer or tennis player being in this too

    Due to salary caps he can’t be, big three in miami, lebron wade and bosh all earn around 19 million $ a year

    Most money in Golf also is from endorsements. Most tournaments offer actual prize money of around $1m or so for the winner so to make this list without any endorsement money counted you would need to be winning or finishing in the top 2-3 all year.

    I call bullshit. Zlatan is the highest paid footballer because he gets his wages nett. Phillippe Auclair pointed this on guardian football weekly in January.

    Does this mean Ronaldo earns €698,076 a week??? It says salary for 2013 only!! I’m confused…
