TIPPERARY’S SEAMUS CALLANAN will battle it out with Richie Hogan and TJ Reid of Kilkenny for the 2014 Hurler of the Year award, it has been announced.
Callanan scored more points than any other player this year in the All-Ireland SHC, finishing with an overall tally of 9-50.
Meanwhile, Hogan and Reid were both influential in helping Kilkenny win their 35th All-Ireland title in total, with the latter second top scorer behind Callanan, after registering 4-53 over the course of the campaign.
In addition, the young player of the year nominees have also been confirmed, with Shane Dowling (Limerick), Cathal Barrett (Tipperary), and Conor McDonald (Wexford) each getting a nod.
The winners of the awards will be confirmed at the All-Star ceremony later this month.
