KENYAN RUNNER LEZAN Kimutai has triumphed in the main event of the Great Limerick Run today, with a time of two hours, 25 minutes and five seconds.
In addition, Irish athletes Gary O’Hanlon and Phillip Harty finished second and third respectively, while Pauline Curley of Tullamore was the first woman to finish.
It was another successful year for the annual event, with roughly 12,000 people believed to have taken part.
My first time in Limerick, the people of the city were fantastic the whole way around the Marathon route. Their support and encouragement was brilliant. Looking forward to 2015 already.

As a marathon runner, what type of course is it? Flat, hilly, etc?
Flat by and large, some minor hills around Raheen (perhaps mile 15) and a real horror show of a hill around mile 22 outside the Gaelic Grounds.
Relatively flat throughout the course, some slight rise here and there but overall, flat!
Very flat mostly, a couple of small hills. It’s all in the river basin of the Shannon.
