10 things you’re likely to see on transfer deadline day

We’re on the home straight of another window.

1. Bryan Swanson spending most of his day fiddling about on the Skypad

Informing us of all the arrivals and departures through the magic of touchscreen. Oh, and then there’s the “Totaliser”… which sounds just like a calculator.

2. Harry Redknapp being interviewed out his car window

‘Arry will have been gutted after missing out on the last deadline day but is back with a bang and the QPR medical staff are sure to be run off their feet. Word has it even forgotten man David Bentley is on Redknapp’s lengthy wishlist.

3. Fans acting the maggot

To that lot who loiter behind Sky Sports News reporters in an attempt to get their mugs on the telly: Making silly faces, ringing your loved ones for a chat and leaping about like a crazed animal is not amusing in the slightest.

4. An OTT entrance from Jim White

The big dog should be skydiving into the studio at around 7pm to do what he does best and see us through the final hours.

5. Daniel Levy waiting until 11.55pm to begin his business

Yes, Spurs have needed a striker for quite awhile now but making early purchases isn’t their chairman’s style. When most clubs are winding up for the night, Leandro Damiao’s private jet could well be touching down in London.

6. Average signings being hyped up when no genuinely big moves go through

Prepare to listen to  Iain Dowie and Dave Bassett calling Luciano Becchio to Norwich a “massive coup”.

7. Tumbleweed blowing past Old Trafford

Fergie’s at home with his feet up. Arsene Wenger is there too.

8. A raft of tweets claiming ludicrous sightings

9. Reporters being offered tea

It’s been a long day but a nice brew from Vera, the Craven Cottage tea lady, makes it all worthwhile.

10. An hourly shot of Big Ben until the window slams shut at 11pm

And that’s it for another seven months – although the details of some last-minute deals may not emerge until the early hours of Friday morning.
